Basic error codes
When boilers operate, malfunctions are inevitable. Let's look at the main error codes for a Hermann gas boiler:
- Error e01 - no flame - can be eliminated yourself. Perhaps the burner flame suddenly went out or did not ignite in time. It is necessary to press the “reset” button, giving the boiler the command to ignite.
If this fails, you need to check whether the gas supply is open and whether it is in the cylinder. Incorrect power supply - if error 01 appears on the display - “reset” - you must press this button.If the problem remains, you need to check the correct connection of the phase, grounding and neutral. If they are mixed up, then the device may not see the flame, even after it has flared up. The neutral may be out of balance.
- Error e02 - the safety thermostat has tripped - can be eliminated on its own. Overheating has occurred. The display will usually show “reboot”. Turn off the unit and after cooling completely, press “reset”. If it doesn’t help, call a specialist.
- Error e03 - the fuse responsible for removing smoke has tripped - can be eliminated. Smoke was removed incorrectly. Perhaps even a gust of wind. Click “reset”. If error 03 does not disappear, check the chimney.
- e05 - heating temperature sensor is faulty - call a technician.
Temperature sensor (thermistor) for Hermann boilers
- e06 - DHW temperature sensor has failed - call a technician. Usually the display shows “service”.
- e09 - the time has come for maintenance - to invite a specialist. This does not prevent the boiler from working - you can press “reset” and the problem will disappear for a few days. However, after three such presses, error 06 will remain on the display permanently.
- e10 - the sensor on the bottom of the boiler indicates insufficient pressure - if error 10 occurs, you need to check the air release valves on the radiators - often the pressure in the system drops through them.
- e11 - the error is inherent in the “SE” model - blocking by the device responsible for removing smoke - call a specialist. Disconnect from the network, turn off the machine and apply voltage to the boiler again - if it does not work, you will have to contact the service center.
- e18 – water is being loaded into the heating system – it is eliminated automatically. Due to the pressure drop in the system, the boiler is loaded with water from the water supply. Wait until it finishes and the error should disappear.

If the pressure is not restored three times within 24 hours, the boiler will go into lockout and error code e19 or e21 will be displayed. Then you should call a technician. - e19 – replenishment was not completed within the specified time frame – call a technician.
- E21 - the pressure in the heating system is below the permissible level - is eliminated by a specialist. Sometimes this happens due to air residues in the system. A coolant leak is also possible.
- e22 – not consistent saved data – call a technician. The display usually shows “service”.
- E24 - the safety thermostat has given an error signal - you can fix it yourself if it is installed on the floor and there is an existing safety thermostat. The temperature under the appliance may be too high.
The thermostat specifically monitors its level in order to protect owners from possible damage to the floor covering. In this case, the boiler will block the heating, but will continue to heat the water.
Safety valve Wait until the floor cools down, restore the thermostat and press “reset” - there may be a delay of 30 seconds. If this does not help, you should call a technician. - E33 – incorrect electrical installation configuration – error 33 is corrected by a technician.
- E35 - inappropriate flame - can be eliminated yourself. A special device blocks the boiler. IF A FLAME IS DETECTED WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE. You need to press the “reset” button. If the device stops again, call a specialist.
- e36 - the general fuse has tripped - is eliminated by the User. If pressing the “Overload” button does not help, call a technician.
- E38 - external temperature sensor is faulty - call a technician.
- E39 – possible freezing of the heat exchanger – call a specialist. Occurs when water or heating sensors detect temperatures equal to or less than 0 degrees. The boiler begins to circulate water in the system and if within 15 minutes the temperature does not increase by 1 degree, the error will remain.
- Error e42 is an error related to the microprocessor. The return line may overheat - call a specialist.
Other faults
Hermann gas boilers, like most heating devices, consist of many electronic components that are responsible for the basic parameters of their operation. But there is one failure that is common to almost all models.
Progammator for Hermann boilers
When switching to the “Summer” mode, the boiler does not want to switch to hot water. When it is in winter mode, it does not respond to the opening of the hot water tap. As a result, the circulation pump in the heating system does not turn off.
In winter mode, if you open the hot water tap, the heating circuit does not turn off and hot water is drawn from the heat exchanger. It is typical that with such a malfunction, the indicators do not show errors. The reason for this behavior of the device is the flow sensor.
A reed switch sensor is installed on the cold water inlet pipe, which is controlled by a float valve with a magnet. There is simply nothing to break in it. Therefore, if it is necessary to transfer the boiler from one mode to another, you should be extremely careful and take your time.
Hermann boilers - Methods for eliminating errors and malfunctions

If the unit is to be replaced due to its malfunction, does the heating system need to be drained during replacement? There can be many reasons for poor burner ignition: It is necessary to check all parameters according to the instructions. In particular - water pressure (not flow), 3-way valve - reaches the microswitch and is there a click? If not, adjust; if the valve or the microphone itself is faulty, replace it. If you turn off the DHW, does the burner not light up? If it lights up, there may be a problem with the DHW NTC sensor. If none of the above helps identify the source of the problem, then it is easier to invite a specialist and resolve the issue on the spot. When replacing an appliance, it is not necessary to drain the heating system if the system design provides for the boiler to be disconnected from the system. There should simply be taps, by closing which the unit can be dismantled and the coolant will not leak out of the system. If none have been installed, you will have to drain them. Recently, a problem was discovered on the Herman boiler. There was a sudden failure of the device with further interruption of operation and error E02. How to fix? Error code E02: Boiler overheating detected. The temperature of the safety thermostat is more than 104 C. If there are no messages for ignition in real time, then the error will not be recorded. The gas burner goes out due to the increased temperature of the heating circuit, although the heat exchanger continues to heat up. For the heating phase 92C, for the DHW phase 96C. The boiler will be blocked by the automation system if, within a 15-second interval, the temperature of the safety thermostat is greater than 104 C. If during this period of time the temperature of the thermostat sensor and temperature sensor does not drop to one hundred degrees, the boiler automation will display an error. The unit is blocked when a signal is received to ignite the burner unit. If at the moment of ignition the protection thermostat has a temperature of more than 104 degrees, the boiler will go into standby mode for 10 seconds, and only after that will it indicate a malfunction. The heating temperature sensor or overheating thermostat has triggered, blocking the functions of the device. The protection thermostat will operate after the temperature rises above 104 C. Wait for the device to cool down and reboot it using the reset key. Inoperability or incorrect operation of the emergency thermal relay. We recommend that you change it. Lack of fluid circulation in the heating circuit. For the heating system, check the pressure. Its values in a cooled system are 1.2 Bar. There is air in the heating line. Check the resistance in the pump motor stator winding for damage or short circuit. The pump operates as usual, but the pressure is poor. The impeller appears to be worn out. If damage is determined, the pump must be replaced. The pump does not rotate, although the inflow to it is intense. We are testing the pump, it may be jammed. Remove the plug, then rotate the motor rotor shaft. There is no power supply to the circulation pump. The electronic board is damaged. the boiler will need to be rebooted. If the problem continues, replace the electronic board. Combustion thermostat overheating. you need to wait until the thermostat sensor has cooled down, then reboot. Hermann Habitat 2. They installed a new heat exchanger, and the heating water flows into the shower. Why is that? It seems to me that the boiler heat exchanger is leaking, or the make-up tap is not working. You can also check this way. We remove the boiler, it should not be difficult, and check it. We pour water into the heat exchanger tubes and see if water comes out of the DHW tube. If the boiler is many years old, anything could happen to it with our water. As an option, you can replace the check valve or install one if you didn’t have one before. Does the unit have a regulator that equalizes the pressure of the gas mixture or is it not recommended for them to make this adjustment? The regulator must adjust the pressure of the fuel entering the boiler unit. When it is extremely small, the burner will not start to ignite; when it is increased, the torch will separate from the wick, and the burner device will go out immediately after ignition. Next are the regulatory procedures. Heat the unit well. Open the chimney completely. Turn on the main burner device to the maximum level, at this moment the fire will turn blue-yellow. Turn off the gas mixture supply valve, thereby removing the yellow tint of the fire. Next, check the operation of the unit in all modes. Why, when the Herman boiler turns on and runs for about one minute, error E02 pops up. How can I fix it? Error E02 - Security sensors turned on. The red light is constantly on - alarm type: RESET. Cause: the smoke was removed incorrectly (even temporarily, in exceptional cases it can be caused by a strong gust of wind). Press the RESET button to turn on the device. If the blockage recurs: Check the working condition of the chimney. On E models, check that the ventilation hole is not closed. The ventilation opening must be the size required by law and must be completely open. Some types of vents have a built-in mosquito net, which can become clogged with dust or cobwebs. If the room where the appliance is installed has fireplaces, stoves, wall fans or range hoods that are equipped with an exhaust vent, have a professional technician check that the vent is up to standard, otherwise the unit may malfunction. On SE models, check that the air intake and exhaust ducts are clean and in working order. During the installation process, the requirements, inclinations and dimensions given in the passport must be observed. Another reason: the unit has overheated and the safety thermostat has tripped. Wait 20-30 minutes for the boiler to cool down, press the RESET button. If the blocking continues, call the service. The red light on the Habitat 2 boiler is flashing, apparently there is a sensor error. How to identify and resolve the error? Try simply reversing the plug in the socket first. The device is sensitive to phasing. Disconnect all sensors from the board and leave power on. Turn on the voltage for a couple of minutes, and then turn off and connect all sensors. If this does not help, then a new board is needed. There is a Habitat 23 boiler at home. Several times a week you have to add water (the pressure in the system drops, although there are no leaks). There is a suspicion that the three-way valve is faulty. Why does blood pressure decrease? There are several reasons for the pressure drop in the heating system: There is a hidden leak in the heating system. There are cases when a hidden leak was detected a year after the commissioning of boiler equipment. The make-up valve is not completely closed. Despite the fact that the boiler has a check valve on the make-up tap, the coolant is transferred into the hot water supply system. There were “air pockets” left in the heating system after startup. Periodically, air leaves them and the pressure drops. Then it's a matter of time. The pressure in the heating system can stabilize within 2–3 months. This is fine. In the future, replenishment once every six months is the norm. The heat exchanger is leaking. Checked visually or by pressure testing. To do this, it is necessary to attract qualified specialists or act by replacing suspicious parts and assemblies. The heating system was pumped, the next day we had a leak of water from the boiler onto the kitchen floor, how to avoid flooding of the apartment? The device has a 3 Atm heating system relief valve. This is the maximum pressure of the heating circuit. The maximum pressure of the hot water supply circuit is 6 atm. In this case, there are no safety valves for the DHW circuit. All these parameters are specified in the technical specifications. When operating in winter, the Herman boiler constantly turns on and off after about a minute, and the piezo ignition is constantly activated. Shouldn't it just turn the throttle down and burn on low once it reaches 80C? There may be several reasons: the device is not set to minimum power; the primary heat exchanger is clogged; chimney problems. The Hermann Thesi gas boiler failed with error E02. What can you say about this error? Overheating of the boiler causes the safety thermostat to trip and block the start. Error code E02 can be resolved by the user by pressing the reset button. But first you need to let the device cool for 30 minutes. During operation, the circulation pump and DHW sensor were changed. During the last week in heating mode, the burner ignites, heats up for about 5 seconds and turns off without causing an emergency. The cyclicity is uneven: it can turn on immediately, maybe after 30-40 seconds. I looked at block 537 ABC. There are no visible damages, no soldering. I checked C9: (mica-ceramics 0.47X400 V) - normal (0.46 mF). It is doubtful that the burner almost immediately reaches maximum mode - no flame modulation is visible. The turn-on delay is set to 3 minutes (jumper JP2 is removed). What do you recommend: look further at the block or check the gas valve? Check the NTC heating sensor to see if it is working and if the wires have come loose. It often happens with these models that due to poor contact on the NTC sensor, spontaneous shutdowns begin and no error is displayed. The Herman boiler shows error E03 and then stops. If it starts, it starts working irregularly. Another time it will start and can work for half an hour, an hour, or no more than five minutes, but basically it doesn’t want to start at all, resetting the parameters does not help much. How to fix this problem? Error E03: Insufficient traction. For the correct and safe operation of a gas boiler, it is necessary to provide draft to remove exhaust gases so that they do not enter living quarters. This is monitored automatically, and if any problems arise, the traction sensor is triggered and the device is blocked. Probable reasons for the lack of traction: narrowed diameter of the outlet channel, inaccuracy during installation, contamination, ice on the walls. Limiting the diameter of the chimney channel leads to weak draft. The length of the chimney pipe is exceeded. We advise you to carefully study the instructions for using the boiler and comply with the relevant requirements. Too long a horizontal section of the smoke exhaust pipe may cause a lack of necessary draft. The pressure switch-draft sensor is damaged - When a vacuum occurs in the inlet tube, a weak click will be noticeable. There is no contact between the control board and the draft sensor, there is condensation, as well as incorrect connection of the tubes to the pneumatic relay. There are problems with the fan operation - There is a blockage in the fan impeller. There is not enough lubricant on the fan shaft, which is why it has low speed. Poor contact between electronic board and fan. How to turn on the pump on a Hermann Thesi boiler for permanent operation? You need to turn off the external thermostat, if there is one, and regulate the temperature using the circuit temperature, then the pump will work constantly, but this is not an economical mode. For what reasons does the display constantly show error code E03, what should I do? Error E03 indicates the activation of safety devices that are responsible for removing flue gases. Clean the chimney. We pumped water into the heating, the device drove it through the pipes and water began to flow from below. What could be the problem? The pressure in the system may not be adjusted, so the safety valve is triggered. Tell me why error E06 began to occur very often? How to fix the problem? Error 06 - temperature sensor malfunction. Call a technician to fix the problem. After a recent thunderstorm, when trying to ignite, the Micra 2 boiler displays error E35. This happens both when trying to heat water and when setting the unit to winter mode for heating the house. The input voltage comes from the stabilizer and fluctuates around 216-217 volts. Can you help solve the problem? Error E35 (inappropriate flame) can be resolved yourself. A special device blocks the device if it detects a flame when there should not be one. You need to press the reset button. Why do the batteries on the Herman Habitat boiler not have time to warm up and the temperature sensor triggers? How to fix the problem? Most likely you need to adjust the flow through the coolant batteries. This is done with a special hex key - at the bottom of the radiators, usually on the left, there is a plug, unscrewing which you will see a hex tap. They regulate this way: the first battery from the boiler is opened a little, the next one a little more, the next one even more, and so on. The latter can be done to the fullest. The point is that immediately after the device the coolant velocity is high and a little can be passed through the first battery - and this will heat the radiator. But the next ones already require a larger volume of hot liquid, they are opened more strongly. Then all the batteries will heat up, and you will have to select them experimentally, nothing can be done, it’s worth tinkering with. And of course, it’s a good idea to make sure that the temperature is set correctly and that the sensor is working properly. Check if the pump is pumping water. Maybe it is faulty, and therefore the heat simply does not flow to the batteries. Periodically you need to bleed the air from the radiators; it also prevents them from heating up normally. When heating the heating, the Herman boiler turns on and off very often, how can I increase the interval? Install a programmable room thermostat, and the unit will operate more rarely and more efficiently. What malfunction occurs if the display shows error code E39? What should you do in this case? Error code E39 means that the water supply is below 0 degrees, and the boiler does not turn on the burner, but turns on the circulation pump, forcing water to circulate in the hydraulic system. This phase lasts 15 minutes. If in the meantime the sensor temperatures have increased by more than 1C, the unit will be prepared for normal operation. Otherwise, the error will become permanent and it should be assumed that water is freezing in one or more sections of the hydraulic circuit. There is a problem with hot water, the unit turns on and off, no errors appear on the screen. What does all of this mean? Check the flow water temperature sensor and replace if necessary. If everything is fine with the sensor, then the control board needs to be repaired. The boiler works, but the heating system does not heat, while the return circuit heats up. When the temperature is set to 65 degrees, it can turn off at 75 and turn on at 14 degrees. What could be the problem? It looks like the system is congested. It is recommended to bleed the air.
