The water heats up instantly, passing through a copper circuit in which
heating elements are located (Fig. 2). The required temperature is achieved by adjusting the water flow. The diagram (Fig. 3) shows the dependence of the temperature difference at the inlet and outlet on the amount of water flow.
The temperature of tap water can fluctuate significantly throughout the year: from 5°C to 20°C. This means that at the same outlet water temperature, the water flow in winter will be less than in summer. To obtain an effective water jet when using the shower, use the included shower head.
After supplying water to the EWH and establishing the minimum permissible
flow (1.8 l), the relay will automatically turn on thermoelectric heaters (heating elements). When the water flow at the inlet decreases below the minimum allowable value, the heating elements are automatically turned off, and accordingly, heating will stop.
Means
protection
from overheating
serve as a temperature sensor,
installed on the copper heater circuit. It disconnects the EWH from the electrical network in case of water overheating (which is not a malfunction).
After cooling, the EWH will turn on automatically. If the water is heated to a temperature above 90°C, then the second stage of the sensor will work; in this case, resuming the operation of the EWH is possible only after mechanically turning on the latter (remove the lid, press the button on the temperature sensor, close the lid).

Using a water heating device
How to use a Thermex water heater? The operating instructions indicate that after installing the tank in place, connecting the water supply network, and the electrical part of the device, the following occurs:
- You need to turn on the water heater using the power selection key.
- The indicator lamp corresponding to the selected mode should light up.
- If the model has a digital display, switch it on using the On/Off button. And the desired temperature is set manually on the display.
- During operation, the consumer can adjust the temperature on models with mechanical control by turning the knob. On electronic units this is done using a touch keyboard. To do this, click on the “Temp. Setting", and then you can change it in steps of 5°C.
- When testing the tank for the first time, the default maximum temperature is set to +75°C.
- If during operation the protection on the heating element is triggered, then to return it to normal mode you need to press the small button on the top of the device.
- If the tank is not used in winter, the water must be drained from it and then disconnected from the electrical network.
Once every six months you need to clean the unit from scale and sediment. They are removed from the heating element with special cleaning agents. But this can also be done purely mechanically. The first maintenance work on a new tank should be carried out after 12 months. To carry out this operation yourself, you must adhere to the following technology:
- De-energize the device.
- Allow hot water to cool completely or use it through faucets.
- Close access to cold water to the tank.
- Open the drain valve or remove the cold water safety valve.
- A rubber hose is put on the outlet pipe for hot liquid, the second end of which is inserted into the sewer pipe.
- Remove the protective covers, unscrew the flange, and remove the wires.
- Remove sediment from the tank and descale the heating element.
- Reassemble the entire device, fill it with water, turn on the power, and check the operation of the tank.
All devices of this type heat the water to almost 86-95°C, and then the heating element automatically turns off. The main disadvantage of such designs is that the heating element is turned on again when the hot water temperature drops by 5-6°C. This causes increased energy consumption.
If the tank is in good condition, then you can keep the liquid warm for almost 12 hours if the tank volume is 80 liters. A 30 liter device can retain heat for up to 6 hours. Therefore, such water heating structures are usually used in the kitchen for washing dishes and hands. This tank capacity only allows you to wash yourself.
If possible, it is better to purchase two of the described units - one with a smaller volume for the kitchen, and a larger one for the bathroom.

Installation
The operating instructions contain a sufficient amount of information so that even an untrained user can independently install and connect the water heater (the operating instructions contain a diagram for connecting the device to the water supply system).
To ensure maximum reduction of heat loss, it is recommended that water heaters be installed as close as possible to the place where hot water is used. When choosing an installation location, it is also necessary to take into account the weight of the device with filled tanks, and it is highly not recommended to install the device on walls with low load-bearing capacity.
The boiler must be suspended by brackets on the body, which sit on anchor hooks pre-installed in the wall. Also, when choosing a place to install the water heater, you should remember that the distance from the bottom cover to the nearest surface must be at least 30 centimeters. This requirement must be met so that the user has the opportunity to service the device without removing it from the wall.
It is necessary to take care in advance about the availability of drills; in particular, the complete anchors come with a 16-diameter diameter.
If all the wiring is pre-prepared, the water heater installation process takes about half an hour.
Mobile app
To obtain full control over the THERMEX IF 80 V pro Wi-Fi water heater, you must install the Thermex Home mobile application (available both in PlayMarket and in the APP Store). This application provides the user with wireless control and allows you to monitor the status of the device in real time.
To work with the application, you must connect the THERMEX IF 80 V pro Wi-Fi water heater to a WiFi wireless network. To do this, you must simultaneously press the “up” and “down” buttons on the control panel and hold them until the WiFi indication appears on the display, then In the mobile application, you need to click the “Add device” button, and then follow the recommendations on the smartphone screen. An important feature is that THERMEX IF 80 V pro Wi-Fi is capable of working exclusively with 2.4 GHz networks.
The functionality that the Thermex Home mobile application offers the user is as follows:
- Remote device control (turn on/off);
- Monitoring the current status and operation of the device in real time;
- Multi-user control mode;
- Programming the operating algorithm of the device by day of the week;
- Creating work scenarios depending on external conditions, for example, weather;
- Device operation timer for 24 hours;
- Combining several devices into a group;
- Simultaneous management of a group of connected devices.
The application interface is intuitive and looks like a water heater dashboard.
Of course, you can’t do without Yandex Alice, which allows you to control the device using voice commands. The list of commands is quite large; the user can perform any action, including asking Alice to turn off the device after 10 minutes, set any temperature, etc.
In order to connect to this service, you first need to add the water heater to the list of devices. To do this, you will need to link the Yandex Alice application (devices) and the Thermex Home application. After the procedure is completed, all functionality becomes available to the user.
Exploitation
After the device is installed and connected to the water supply system, it is necessary to turn off the hot water supply tap, then open the cold water supply valve to the water heater, then the tap at the hot water outlet from the water heater and the hot water tap on the mixer. Performing these actions will cause air to drain from the boiler and fill its tanks with cold water. After the tanks are completely filled from the mixer, a stream of cold water will flow.
After the water heater tank is filled, the device is completely ready for use and can be connected to the electrical network.
THERMEX IF 80 V pro Wi-Fi has electronic control with touch, smooth adjustment in the range of up to +75°C degrees. If the water temperature exceeds +95°C, the thermal switch will operate, which will prevent overheating of the water heater and turn off the device.
The user has access to several operating modes, which differ in the heating power of the heating elements, and, as a result, in the time intervals required to heat water at a given temperature.
Turbo - the device operates at a power of 2 kW. The default temperature for this operating mode is +75°C. The time required to heat water, the temperature of which is +33°C to +75°C, is 1 hour 45 minutes. Water heated to this temperature allows two or three people to shower. Using this mode is most optimal if you need to quickly heat the water to the maximum temperature.
Optimal - the device operates at a power of 1.3 kW. The default temperature for this operating mode is +65°C. The time required to heat water whose temperature is +15°C to a temperature of +65°C is 2 hours 46 minutes. The mode is called optimal for a reason. At this temperature, scale forms on heating elements much more slowly than in other operating modes, which in turn means that the device can be serviced much less frequently. Moreover, heating to this temperature prevents fungi and bacteria from developing inside the tank.
Economy – the most economical operating mode of the device, with a power of 0.7 kW. In this mode, the default heating temperature is +55°C. The time required for the device to heat water, the initial temperature of which is +32°C to +55°C, is 3 hours 7 minutes. This mode is very comfortable, because the temperature of the hot water supply should be (should be) in the range from +50°C to +60°C. At the same time, you need to understand that from time to time it is necessary to heat the water in the tank to at least +65°C in order to prevent the formation of bacteria inside the tank. The volume of the tank is quite enough for one or two people to take a comfortable shower.
No Frost – device operating mode in which the water temperature is maintained at +10°C, which allows you to leave the device in cold rooms, unattended and prevents the formation of ice.
Special attention is paid to the manual control, which allows the user to set the required water temperature when the device is operating in any of the modes. In fact, you can set the “Turbo” mode, while setting the maximum temperature to +55°C. A very convenient feature. The adjustment range is from +30°C to +75°C.
An important indicator is how long the device can maintain temperature without heating. To do this, the device was completely filled with water, and in Turbo mode the water was heated to a temperature of +75°C, after which the power supply was stopped. The dynamics of temperature changes are presented in the graph below.
Some users use water heaters in the countryside and in the country, which are not heated in winter. To ensure the safety of the device, you just need to make sure that the room temperature does not fall below +10°C. If this requirement is met, all that needs to be done is to drain the water from the tanks and disconnect the device from the water supply system. This procedure is sufficient to preserve the device in winter.
The ability to control a water heater using a mobile application is very important and convenient. The user at any time has the opportunity to turn on or turn off the device and know the temperature of the water inside the tank. Moreover, it is possible to set a timer, or create a scenario for the device, depending on a number of external factors.

Installation and connection of the device
Place the water heater on a load-bearing or sufficiently strong wall. Despite its compact size and low weight without liquid, after filling with water the unit becomes much heavier. It is fixed using anchors and hooks included in the kit.
When connecting communications, first secure the valve to the cold water pipe. Then the pipes are fixed; it is important to use sealing gaskets and sealing agents. In order for the unit to start working, air is released from the tank. To do this, you need to open the cold and hot water tap of the mixer. Valve leakage can be prevented immediately. To do this, connect a flexible transparent hose to it, which must be led into the nearest sewer hole.
Before turning on the boiler, a wire with a plug is installed. The connection is made to a grounded outlet. It is important that the cable matches the parameters of the device and the electrical network. Domestic water heaters are most often single-phase.
Maintenance
During operation, salt deposits gradually appear on water heating devices, which worsen the heat exchange process. Despite the presence of a filter element for the suction of the feed liquid, the walls of the internal tank tend to accumulate sediment. As a result, malfunctions of relays and sensors appear.
Repair is required under the following conditions:
- water takes longer to heat up than usual;
- extraneous sounds when heating;
- frequent switching on with activation of the protection system;
- deterioration in the quality of heated water;
- The water does not heat up.
You can replace or clean the heating parts yourself, as well as flush the tank. If the control unit fails, you must contact a specialized center for adjustment. Before any repair work, the first thing you need to do is turn off the power to the device. To do this, remove water from the tank using a tap, supplying air to displace the liquid from the tank. Replacing heating elements and descaling them is carried out after complete dismantling of the equipment.
You need to take a photo of the connection diagram so that you can later restore it in the same form.
When replacing heating elements, you need to know that most heater models consist of two heating elements and two magnesium anodes. When installing the boiler, distortion must not be allowed. The sealing elements must be cleaned and the flange connections must be secured crosswise. If the water has increased hardness, there is a need to frequently drain the tank and clean sediment from both the heating elements and the bottom of the tank.
If scale has formed on the walls of the tank, the heating process worsens. To do this, it is necessary to remove the faulty element and thoroughly descale it, then check the functionality of the magnesium anode and, if necessary, replace it. In other cases, boiler repairs are carried out in service centers using original spare parts for Thermex water heaters.
After installing the water heater, proceed to its startup. To carry out this process correctly, it is recommended to follow the instructions for use of the heating apparatus. Proper start-up determines the lifespan of the boiler and the frequency of maintenance. Starting and setting boiler modes will differ depending on the type of water heater. However, in general, the order of inclusion is based on the same principles. It looks like this:
- Before turning on the device, it is necessary to close the shut-off valve for hot water supply from the common riser. This must be done even if there is a check valve;
- then they proceed to filling the reservoir with liquid and displacing the air;
- after which you should plug the plug into the socket and adjust the settings. You can start using the equipment in a few hours.
To check the functionality of the Thermex water heater, you need to perform the following steps:
- notice the power indicators turn on (they start to light);
- determine the temperature of the liquid leaving the mixer;
- After 20–25 minutes, you can see increased temperature readings on the touch panel.
In most cases, all consumers are satisfied with the Thermex 50-liter water heater. When choosing the optimal heating equipment option, reviews from real customers will help solve this problem and answer the most pressing questions. Many consumers unanimously concluded that a heater with a capacity of 50 liters is much more economical than larger units. The manufacturer offers a fairly wide selection of models - from the cheapest to designer boilers with electronics and a touch screen.

Electrical connection
All storage water heaters of the EWH series are designed for connection to an electrical network with a single-phase voltage of 220/230 V. Before connecting, make sure that the parameters of the electrical network at the connection point correspond to the parameters indicated on the technical data plate of the device. When installing the device, the current electrical safety regulations must be observed. When installing a water heater in a bathroom or toilet, the restrictions associated with the existence of prohibited and protective volumes should be taken into account. Prohibited volume
- this is the space limited by tangential and vertical planes in relation to the outer edges of the bath, toilet or shower block and the plane located above them or above the floor, if the plumbing is mounted on the floor, at a height of 2.25 m.
The protective volume
is the space limiting the horizontal planes of which coincide with the planes of the forbidden volume, and the vertical planes are 1 meter away from the corresponding planes of the forbidden volume.
It is prohibited to install switches, sockets and lighting fixtures in the prohibited area. It is prohibited to install switches in the protective volume; however, it is possible to install sockets with grounding. If possible, the water heater should be installed outside the prohibited volume to avoid splashing water. The device must be connected to the electrical network via a multi-pole switch, breaker or contactor. To ensure safe operation of the water heater, a fuse of a suitable rating must be installed. The electrical connection must include a ground connection. The water heater power cord plug with a special grounding connector should only be inserted into a properly grounded outlet. If your home wiring does not have a grounding contact, we recommend using a residual current device (RCD).
Exploitation
Filling with water.
After installing the water heater, open the water supply valve.
Open the hot water tap. Once the water heater is full, water will flow out of it. Close the taps and make sure there are no leaks. If you are unsure whether there is water in the water heater, do not connect it to the electrical network. Electrical connection.
Insert the appliance plug into the outlet and turn on the water heater.
On some models, when the heating element is turned on, the indicator light will flash. The thermostat will ensure that the heating element turns on again after a certain amount of water has been consumed. Setting the temperature.
Some models have an external temperature controller with an adjustment range from 30°C (minimum) to 70°C (maximum).
Economy mode (position E).
In this mode, the water is heated only to a temperature of about 55°C, allowing the water heater to operate more economically. In this case, heat loss is minimal, and virtually no sediment is formed.
Heating power switch.
Some models provide the ability to switch heating power.
Position II MAX: maximum heating power Position I MIN: minimum heating power It is recommended to always keep the water heater plugged in, since the thermostat turns on the heating only when it is required to maintain the set temperature. Draining.
The water heater should be completely drained if it will not be used for a long time or the temperature in the room where it is installed may drop below 0°C. Draining can be done using a safety valve (not for the ECO valve), but leakage may occur from under the valve stem. For draining, it is advisable to provide a tee with a valve between the valve and the bushing. Before draining the water heater, do not forget: -
disconnect the water heater from the network
—
close the valve
—
open the hot water tap.
Care
The water heater does not require special care. The body of the water heater should be wiped from time to time with a soft cloth or damp sponge. Never use abrasive or foaming detergents. After the warranty period has expired, it is recommended that you contact an authorized maintenance and repair company to check the condition of the magnesium plate. Although this operation is not included in the warranty service, it will allow you to determine the degree of wear of this element and determine how soon it will need to be replaced. This way you can make your water heater more durable. If the thermostat malfunctions and the water heater overheats, an automatic shutdown system is activated, blocking heating and power supply.
In this case, contact an authorized service and repair company. However, in the event of a minor malfunction, try turning the water heater back on by doing the following: - Cool the water heater by opening the tap
hot water and keep it open until the water temperature drops.
— Disconnect the water heater from the mains and remove the cover — Press the small button on the body
safety switch.
— Replace the cover and reconnect
device to the network.
Attention
: Never remove the cover of the water heater without first disconnecting it from the power supply.
Frequently asked questions about water heaters

Are the tanks reliable for constant use of the water heater?
The internal tanks of ARISTON water heaters are quite reliable, because... have a double safety margin: the operating pressure is 8 atm, while the pressure during testing is 16 atm. Reliability also depends on the coating of the steel inner tank of the water heater. ARISTON uses finely dispersed and titanium (exclusive development of the company) enamel, which protects the tank from corrosion throughout its service life. When it comes to stainless steel tanks, durability largely depends on the grade of steel. Today on the Russian market there are EWH tanks made from the following steel grades: 301, 304, 439, 316L, etc. The highest quality and most expensive stainless steel is INOX316L. This grade is used in the production of medical instruments, has improved corrosion resistance with lower welding carbon, and also has higher elongation and hardness. It is this brand that is used in the production of the Ariston Platinum and Steel Tronic EWH lines. Also, the strength of the tank depends on the quality of welding, because Weld seams are the weakest point of the tank, where leaks and corrosion can form. ARISTON uses only high-tech types of welding: argon-arc and plasma. These welding technologies are the most effective way to protect seams.
Which water heaters consume more electricity: storage or instantaneous?
Storage water heaters consume relatively less electricity compared to instantaneous water heaters. Thus, a water heater of the TiTronic series with a capacity of 80 liters consumes only 4.5 kW of electricity for 3 hours of heating water, while you get 80 liters of hot water (75°C) and twice as much (160 liters) of warm water (40-45°C) C), since you dilute it with cold water. Instantaneous water heaters with a capacity of 4.5 kW per hour will heat only 120 liters of warm water (35-40°C), while the temperature at the outlet of the instantaneous water heater is usually not the same due to fluctuations in voltage in the network and water pressure in the main. After heating in a storage water heater, the water retains all the heat, because ARISTON water heaters have excellent thermal insulation. You can use this hot water for one to two days.
EWH device, operating principle, assembly technology
How is enamel applied?
The enamel powder is applied according to the principle of the difference in electrostatic charges (as if it is attracted to the walls of the internal tank), which in principle eliminates the formation of bubbles, unevenness and cracks. The tank is then heated to a temperature of 850°C, at which time the enamel coating melts and sinteres with the tank material.
Why do you need a magnesium anode if you said that the tank is covered with titanium enamel?
The magnesium anode provides additional protection for the tank against corrosion. Only ARISTON water heaters feature a larger-size magnesium anode, which means the tank’s service life and protection is much longer than in other water heaters.
How do you save energy?
Energy savings occur due to the thermal insulation of the tank made of dense polyurethane foam, which ensures the daily heat loss of an 80-liter water heater is about 1 kW.
What is the maximum working pressure in the tank?
Maximum operating pressure is a value that characterizes the water heater’s ability to withstand water pressure. Maximum working pressure – 8 atm. If the pressure in the tank rises above 8 atm, the safety valve is activated.
What is the wall thickness of a stainless steel tank?
The wall thickness of the stainless steel tank is from 0.6 to 1.3 mm, depending on the model.
What is stainless steel passivation?
Special chemical treatment of the tank - a film that is “passive” to the effects of oxygen is formed, which prevents oxygen from reaching the walls of the tank. From the point of view of corrosion, passivation is the formation of an inert film on the surface of the metal, which slows down the corrosion of welds, since ordinary metal is used when welding seams.
The passivation process is only used for stainless steel tanks because... Steel tanks have double corrosion protection: enamel coating and magnesium anode.
What is the power of ARISTON storage water heaters?
The power of the heating element, depending on the model, can be 1.2; 1.5; 2.0; 3.0 or 6.0 kW. This information is contained in catalogs, booklets, and instructions.
How quickly does water heat up in a storage EWH?
Depending on the volume of the device and the power of the heating element: from 20 minutes to 5 hours. For example, a water heater of the TI-Tronic Best series with a capacity of 80 l heats up in 3 hours 6 minutes.
How many heating elements are there in large displacement EWHs?
All EWHs use one heating element.
Thermostat structure and material?
In the 30SLIM and 50-20 l models we have bimetallic thermostats. They are triggered by the difference in thermal expansion of metals: shell and rod. Temperature error up to 5-7 degrees.
In the small displacement 10-3 l and Ti Shape models, we use capillary thermostats, which are more accurate, with an error of up to 3-4 degrees.
Ti-Tronic BEST electronic thermostat, the most high-precision, error 1 degree, operating principle - different resistance of the material at different temperatures, when the temperature changes, the resistance value changes and is fixed by the control board.
What is inside the heating element?
Inside the copper shell there is a nichrome spiral. The spiral is insulated from the walls of the shell by a compressed dielectric filler having a high thermal conductivity coefficient. To prevent moisture from entering, the ends of the heating element are sealed.
What temperature and volume of water is obtained at the outlet of a flow-through EWH? Does the heating element's spiral affect heating in a flow-through EWH?
