Safety instructions/regulations

When designing, installing and operating, you must be guided by the following documents that have legislative force in the territory of the Russian Federation:

— SNiPs for heating, ventilation and

air conditioning;

— Gas supply standards; — Regulatory requirements for fire

security;

— PUE/PTE of consumer electrical installations; - in the area of ​​removal of combustion products and

air supply should be guided by the proprietary material - “Catalog of coaxial and separate chimneys” (when using the extension “Protherm PT 20, 30, 40, 50”).

In addition to complying with the requirements contained in the above documents, when operating the boiler, it is necessary to comply with the requirements of this manual and the accompanying documentation for the boiler provided by the manufacturer. It is necessary to exclude possible interference in the operation of the boiler by children, persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol, incapacitated persons, etc.

• In practice, situations may arise where

when necessary:

disconnect the boiler from the electrical network and

take measures to eliminate the possibility of unauthorized

supplying voltage to the boiler when performing the following operations: —

during boiler repair and maintenance;

when servicing the chimney and air duct;

— when carrying out gas hazardous work; — during system repair and maintenance

heating and hot water supply;

• If you smell gas in the room,

where the boiler is installed, the following safety measures must be observed: -

do not turn on or off electrical appliances and room lighting;

- do not smoke or use open

fire indoors;

do not use the telephone indoors;

- close the shut-off valve on the supply

gas pipeline;

- ventilate the room; — notify the emergency gas station about the smell

service and your service organization;

• in the room where the boiler is installed,

it is prohibited to store and use explosive or flammable materials (for example, gasoline, paper, paints, etc.);

When draining coolant from the boiler

make sure that the coolant temperature is low, otherwise there is a risk of getting burned;

• check the system pressure regularly

heating. It is prohibited to operate the boiler if the heating system is defrosted or coolant leaks are detected from the heating system;

• if the gas supply stops, it is necessary

turn off the boiler, close the gas supply and contact the gas service or service organization.

Cast iron boilers of the Bear series are the most suitable solution for modernizing your existing heating system. They can also be connected to older systems with an open expansion tank, or they can complement a heating system that uses a solid fuel boiler as a heat source. Thanks to their solid construction, they guarantee a long service life and easy-to-maintain, problem-free operation.

The MEDVED TLO boiler is designed on the basis of low-temperature cast iron boilers MEDVED PLO. It is designed for heating objects with a gravitational heating system independent of electricity.

Smart design – high efficiency

  • The cast iron boiler body consists of individual elements that are specially designed so that the heat during fuel combustion is transferred to the heating water as much as possible.
  • The burner is equipped with two to five stainless steel tubes, which, thanks to their thoughtful design, help the boiler achieve excellent parameters. In combination with specially designed nozzles, they ensure uniform mixing of gas with air, which contributes to achieving high boiler efficiency and a very low content of harmful substances in combustion products.
  • The fuel combustion process complies with the most stringent European standards.

The practical arrangement of elements on the control panel increases the ease of maintenance of the boiler.

Safety is an important parameter of boilers

The well-thought-out draft interrupter design optimizes fuel combustion conditions and maintains proper draft in the chimney. In the event of non-standard exhaust conditions (clogging of the chimney, unfavorable climatic conditions, atmospheric influences), the draft control system in the chimney will ensure that the boiler is turned off, preventing the occurrence of danger for people living in the building and for the environment.

KLZ series boilers are equipped with an excellent control system used for mounted boilers, including a built-in microprocessor, smooth power modulation or equithermal control. This series can be recommended for both new houses and reconstructed properties.

Boilers of the Bear TLO series:

  • The boiler is equipped with an SKKT chimney draft control system, which, if there is insufficient draft in the chimney (clogging, extreme climatic conditions, atmospheric influences), immediately shuts down the boiler from operation. This prevents any danger to humans or the environment.
  • The gas is ignited by a so-called “eternal flame”, which heats a thermocouple placed on the ignition burner. When the thermocouple heats up, a voltage of 820 mV is generated, which is used to control the main coil of the gas valve. If the flame unexpectedly goes out, the gas valve closes immediately, which ensures absolute safety of operation.

The rational arrangement of elements on the control panel increases the safety of using the boiler. The main switch, together with elements designed to regulate the parameters of the boiler and control its operation, are located under a specially hinged lid.

Fast heating of DHW in Protherm Medved TLO boilers

  • If it is necessary to obtain a large amount of hot water, an additional boiler can be connected to the Bear TLO boiler.
  • A special Protherm connection kit is designed for quick connection of the boiler to the boiler. The connection kit is universal for all Bear TLO boilers of any size with a “B 100MS” boiler located to the right or left of the boiler.
  • This kit contains the electronic board and all necessary elements, including connecting hoses. The kit is supplied separately and is not included in the standard boiler package.

Connection of a room regulator in Protherm Bear TLO boilers

  • To control the boiler, it is convenient to use a room regulator with special gold-plated contacts.
  • When connecting the regulator, it is important to pay attention to the diameter of the connecting cable and its maximum length (see table). The regulator is connected to the terminal block, which is located in the boiler.

Built-in microprocessor

  • not only controls the entire operation of the boiler, but also provides equithermal temperature control and automatic diagnostics. Fault messages are shown on the display (for example, gas supply interruption, etc.).
  • it provides smooth regulation of the boiler power based on constant comparison of the actually achieved values ​​with the values ​​required (set) by the user. This control system is proportional, i.e. with a larger difference in the compared values, the boiler operates with greater power and vice versa.

Control panel
Under an easily hinged plastic cover there is a display that displays the temperature of the heating water or DHW and automatic diagnostic message codes. Setting up all boiler parameters is very simple - using two buttons.

Boiler equipment

Two pumps (for the heating circuit and for DHW), safety valves and a 10-liter expansion tank for the heating circuit make it easy and quick to connect the boiler to the heating system without additional investment.

Sufficient amount of hot water

The built-in 90-liter boiler provides a sufficient amount of hot water. Its heating has an advantage over heating and is always carried out with the required power, regardless of the installed boiler power. An efficient heat exchanger ensures rapid heating of water in the boiler. The boiler also has a connection for circulating warm water.

Boiler control system

The boiler is equipped with an equithermal regulator and a timer. The timer built into the control panel allows the user to pre-select certain time intervals during the day when thermal comfort is required, and time intervals with a lower temperature (at night or when the family leaves for work, etc.).

Equithermal regulation

  • This is a boiler control method in which the heating water temperature is regulated depending on the outside air temperature. An outside temperature sensor constantly monitors changes in the weather, and the controller, in accordance with preset dependencies, regulates the water temperature in the heating system (and thus the air temperature in the building) so that constant thermal comfort is ensured at all times. By supplementing this system with a room regulator or thermostatic radiator valves, you can create a reliable, economical and pleasant way to heat your home and increase thermal comfort.
  • To simplify maintenance of the controller, several heating schedules are pre-entered into the controller’s memory, according to which each value of the outside temperature corresponds to a specific heating water temperature.
  • The control unit has a built-in timer, with which the user sets the time for changing the boiler’s daytime operating mode to night operation with a reduced temperature.
  • The equithermal regulator is an integral part of the boiler control system, so there is no need for additional investment in installing a special regulator.

Benefits of an equithermal regulator

  • Adjusting the heating water temperature to the instantaneous value of the outside air temperature
  • This gives a particular advantage during the transition period of the year, when this method of regulation is more flexible compared to using a classic room regulator
  • In case of sudden changes in weather, a boiler with an equithermal regulator reacts faster than a boiler controlled only by a room thermostat.

Clear control panel

  • The rational arrangement of elements on the control panel increases the safety of using the boiler. The main switch, together with elements intended for visual control of operation, is located under an easily hinged cover.
  • Elements intended to regulate boiler parameters are protected by the front casing of the boiler. This prevents accidental or unwarranted manipulation of them.
  • To increase thermal comfort, the boiler can be controlled by a programmable room controller.

For your satisfaction

  • Using the switch on the boiler control panel, you can easily select the boiler operating mode. In summer, the boiler only heats the water in the boiler, and in winter it also provides heating. During the transition period, the boiler can be switched to reduced power.
  • Additionally, the boiler can be equipped with a pump thermostat, which turns on the circulation pump (not included in the boiler delivery set) only after sufficient heating of the heating water in the boiler body. A significant reduction in water heating time results in significant fuel savings and protection of the cast iron block from condensation.

Two-stage regulation – fuel saving

  • KLOM and PLO boilers are equipped with tried and tested two-stage gas valves.
  • During the main heating season, the boiler operates at full power, and during the transition period, when the outside temperature is above 0°C, the boiler can be switched to reduced power using a switch on the control panel.

Easy DHW heating

  • The Bear boiler can work with a DHW heater in the boiler.
  • To connect and ensure error-free communication between the boiler and the boiler, it offers a suitable connection kit.
  • The connection kit is universal for all Bear boilers of any size with a “B 100MS” boiler located to the right or left of the boiler. This kit contains all the necessary elements, including connecting hoses.

Setting the water temperature in the boiler

To set the water temperature in the boiler, press the MODE button once. In this mode, the diode located in the upper left corner

will begin to flash and the LED in the lower right corner will light up. Using the button

the required water temperature in the boiler. The sequence for setting the water temperature values ​​in the boiler is as follows: -, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 70°C

. When selecting the “—” parameter, the boiler will only operate in heating mode. By pressing the MODE button, the selected temperature value will be saved in the boiler memory, and the display will show the mode for setting the coolant temperature.

Setting the heating temperature

To set the heating temperature, press the MODE button 2 times. In heating temperature setting mode, the diode

located in the upper left corner of the display blinks, and the LED located in the lower right corner of the display does not light up.

In the lower right corner of the display there is a diode, through which the following conditions are signaled:

• the diode does not light – the boiler is switched off

heating and hot water heating modes. The boiler is in standby mode;

• the diode is blinking – the boiler is operating in

heating based on a signal from the room regulator.

Indication of pressure in the heating system

The pressure in the heating system is constantly displayed on the boiler pressure gauge (Fig. 1, item 5).

DHW heating

Hot water is prepared in an oval container with a coil-type heating element. As in indirect heating boilers, a coolant flows through the coil, which heats the water in the boiler. The material of the internal coating of the tank is enamel. Traditionally, the boiler has a magnesium anode to prevent corrosion. Thermal insulation is made of polyurethane. Also, the boiler already has a 4-liter expansion tank for the DHW circuit.

This boiler has a pipe outlet for DHW recirculation, which allows you to provide hot water immediately after opening the tap.

Equithermal mode

Setting the equithermal mode, i.e. selection of the inclination angle of the equithermal curve “E” and its parallel offset

“P” is only possible if an external temperature sensor is connected to the boiler. Note:

If there is no external temperature sensor, the boiler will not allow the user to enter the mode for setting parameters E and P.

Setting the slope of the curve

Press the MODE button until parameter “E” appears on the display. Simultaneously in the upper left

set the desired curve slope from E1 to E9 and confirm your choice by pressing the MODE button. The required coolant temperature at the boiler outlet is adjusted depending on the external temperature and the corresponding curve setting (Fig. 2). Advantages and disadvantages


Bear boilers have microprocessor control.
Proterm products are popular in 25 countries around the world. The demand for equipment is explained by its many advantages:
