Design features and operating principle of Breneran furnaces

teplomex.ru

Long-burning gas generator stoves have gained great popularity in countries with harsh climates, where temperatures below zero degrees remain for several months. Inexpensive, reliable and economical. And if such a stove also has a built-in water circuit, then it becomes indispensable in many ways. After all, it can be used both for heating air in a residential or industrial premises, and for heating a house, cottage or garage.

Let's look at the main types of long-burning stoves with a water circuit presented on the Russian market, using the example of the Breneran-Aquaten or "Aqua-Breneran" stoves, which have different reviews from owners and stove makers. We will also consider their technical characteristics, operating principle, model range and prices.

This is probably the most famous and popular oven of this type. Its prototype was taken as a basis - this is the Breneran (Buleryan) stove. Then the engineers modified it somewhat and, by installing a heat exchanger in it, made it possible to use it not only to heat the surrounding air, but also to heat the coolant in the heating system.

Construction of the Breneran-Aquaten stove (Fig. 1)
Construction of the Breneran-Aquaten stove
The stove body is welded from steel and covered with heat-resistant black enamel. There are two combustion chambers inside this furnace: upper and lower. In the lower chamber, the process of producing gases from solid fuel occurs, and in the upper chamber, the afterburning of these gases occurs, followed by heat generation.

There are 2 manifolds with built-in injectors on the sides. To adjust the power and operating mode, two dampers are installed on the stove: on the front of the door (4 - Fig. 1) and on the rear chimney pipe (3.5 - Fig. 1). For supplying and discharging coolant, there are two threaded manifolds on the unit body (1,2 - Fig. 1). The diameter of the chimney can be different, depending on the type of Aqua-Breneran: from 120 to 180 mm.

AOTV Breneran-Aquaten stoves come in several types:

— AOTV-6 type 00 — AOTV-11 type 01 — AOTV-14 type 02 — AOTV-16 type 03 — AOTV-19 type 04

They differ from each other in size, power, combustion chamber volume, and weight. Selected according to the area of the heated room. The smallest will heat up to 100 m3, the largest up to 1000 m3.

Technical characteristics of Breneran-Aquaten
Which fuel is better to use
Almost any solid fuel is relevant for the Breneran-Aquaten stove: firewood, peat, cardboard, wood chips and sawdust, except coal and coke. It must be remembered that for the correct operation of such a stove, you need to ensure that when lighting the lower chamber is completely filled with fuel. In this case, the manufacturer guarantees operation on one load of solid fuel for up to 8-10 hours.

Using the water circuit of the Breneran furnace

Such a long-burning stove can operate in both open and closed heating systems. For a closed system, you need to purchase additionally and install the following equipment into the system:

- circulation pump - membrane expansion tank - safety group (safety valve and air vent, as well as pressure gauge)

For proper use of the stove in systems with natural circulation, it is necessary to observe a certain slope of the heating system pipes. As well as an open type expansion tank, which will need to be placed at the highest point of the system.

Everything is shown in more detail in the photo diagram below.

Advantages of the Breneran-Aquaten furnace with a water circuit

— high operating efficiency in long-term burning mode — the ability to work in open and closed heating systems — the ability to combine with cast iron radiators without converting the old system to plastic (polypropylene) — affordable price from 15,000 rubles

Disadvantages of the Breneran-Aquaten stove

- not aesthetically pleasing - not recommended to be combined with modern aluminum radiators - a number of conditions for operation in gas generation mode (fully filled volume of the loading chamber, adjustment of dampers)

Total

A long-burning stove with a water circuit, Breneran, can be suitable for rooms of different sizes. But such a stove will not look very aesthetically pleasing at home. A special boiler room is ideal for it; you can also use it to heat a production workshop or garage, etc.

For heating a private home, I would still advise considering other, more modern options long-burning furnaces with a water circuit. For example, domestic Cooper boilers have proven themselves well. Or consider imported analogues, but in this case the price of the stove will be higher, and significantly. Therefore, you will have to choose. And finally, a short video review.

Breneran furnace design

The Breneran furnace consists of sections welded together. One section is a connection of two curved thick-walled pipes. The resulting elements are connected by sheets of steel, forming a barrel-shaped shape. The size of the firebox and the thermal power of the furnace depend on the number of sections.

On one rear side there is a door in which there is a rotary flap - it is needed to adjust the draft. There is a slot in the damper; air flows through it even when it is completely closed. In this case, the amount of air is minimal to provide the necessary conditions for pyrolysis, but more on that later.

The gas AOGV boiler does not depend on the electrical network and can operate in all heating systems. The operation of the unit is controlled by a thermocouple.

All fittings for connecting heating radiators must be purchased separately; they are not included in the kit.

At the opposite end there is a pipe for the chimney (see How to clean a chimney from soot with your own hands: all methods). There are two combustion chambers inside the furnace. The first one is for primary combustion, where the wood smolders. The second is for afterburning pyrolysis gas. The secondary combustion chamber is located in the upper part. There are also holes in the pipes through which air is supplied.

What is a Breneran stove?

The Breneran stove is a convection air heater. Ideal for our winter. Breneran furnaces are characterized by extremely high efficiency - up to 80%. They work on almost all types of solid fuel: wood, wood waste, cardboard, peat briquettes, brown coal, etc. (except for coal). Thanks to the special design of the firebox, combustion occurs at a lower temperature compared to direct-flow furnaces. This ensures reliable and long-term operation.

The Breneran stove for heating a house is an all-welded steel structure, surrounded at the top and bottom with many pipes, through which heated air is distributed throughout the room and quickly warms it up to the required temperature. For one hour of operation of the Breneran stove, the air temperature in the room increases, on average, by 15-20 °C. Using flexible foil ducts, it is possible to supply warm air to other rooms. The Breneran stove is very economical (only one or two loads of the firebox per day - it depends on the type of stove), easy to maintain, reliable and environmentally friendly.

High efficiency (80%) and high heat transfer are achieved through combustion in gas generation mode. This happens as follows: when wood is burned in the lower chamber, the gases released during combustion enter the upper chamber of the Breneran stove, where they are finally burned thanks to special afterburner injectors.

The power regulator on the firebox door and the gasifier regulator on the smoke pipe of the Breneran stove allow you to control the process of heat release and set the desired temperature and burning time. When lighting the Breneran stove, both regulators are placed in a horizontal position (maximum open). With this position of the regulators, the stove should operate only for the time during which the cold air inside the chimney warms up and a stable draft appears (usually 10-15 minutes). After the fire has flared up, the main fuel is added so as to fill the volume of the combustion chamber as much as possible (the afterburning chamber always remains empty). The gasifier regulator closes to approximately 45° and the furnace switches to gas generation mode. Using the power regulator, after the entire room has warmed up, you can achieve the desired temperature in your room.

The formation of ash in the Breneran furnace is negligible. It is not necessary to completely remove it - the lower part of the pipes should always be covered with ash, which is necessary for normal gasification.

Furnace sizes

Breneran stoves are available in six standard sizes depending on the volume of heated premises:

Breneran stoves models AOT-6, AOT-8, AOT-11, AOT-14 can be equipped with a combustion door with an insert made of SCHOTT ROBAX® heat-resistant glass. Through this door you can observe the combustion process:

Breneran stoves models AOT-6 (type 00) and AOT-8 (type 05) are available in a heating and cooking type with a stove for cooking.

  • AOT-6 is available with 1-burner and 2-burner stoves,
  • AOT-8 - with a 2-burner stove.

CJSC Laotherm has developed and patented the Breneran-AQUATEN stove, which has no analogues in the world. It runs exclusively on solid fuel: wood, cardboard, wood and peat briquettes.

The stove is a powerful fluid heater for a water heating system. It can be used to heat domestic and industrial premises with a volume of 200 to 1000 cubic meters. Thanks to its unique design, the efficiency of the furnace reaches 70%, and depending on the model, it operates on one load from 6 to 12 hours.

The Breneran-AKVATEN stove is an all-welded steel structure coated with heat-resistant paint. So, in appearance and material, it is quite consistent with its time. And you can install it in the boiler room or basement.

The unit itself consists of two combustion chambers: a lower one, a gasification chamber and an upper gas afterburning chamber. The stove is equipped with two regulators: a power regulator is mounted on the door, and a gasifier regulator is mounted on the chimney pipe at the back of the stove.

Due to the fact that two-thirds of the pipes forming the furnace body are located in the furnace firebox, maximum heating of the coolant circulating through the pipes (batteries) occurs. The furnace is designed to operate in an open system, and the liquid rises by gravity.

Thanks to injectors, which perform the function of a kind of “afterburner,” maximum CO2 combustion is achieved.

To maintain a positive temperature in the system in winter (when it is not possible to ensure the operation of the device using solid fuel), an electric heating element with a power of 1 kW is installed. If all the instructions and fire safety requirements are met, the manufacturer's warranty on the stove is 2.5 years.

Particular attention should be paid to the recommended height of the Breneran stove chimney, because... with a shorter chimney, the stove will not work in the economical gasification mode!!!

An important point is the correct installation of the Breneran stove.

If you want to calculate the cost of a chimney, we recommend using the convenient and visual calculator of the TEPLODRIVE ONLINE STORE on the quick chimney calculation page. When calculating, please note that the diameter of the pipe for Breneran furnaces is 120 mm and the steel thickness is from 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm.

The lineup

Manufacturers of Breneran stoves took care to maximize the scope of application of their brainchild. This need imposed certain requirements on the design of a particular model. There are four stove options in the line:

  • gas generators;
  • with hob;
  • for a bath;
  • with water circuit.

A gas generator furnace is a standard option, which we have already described. Their power comes in 6, 8, 11, 14, 16 and 19 kW. Available with or without glass in the firebox doors.

Breneran stove with hob

The peculiarity of this model is that the pipes do not intersect at the top, only at the bottom. This is necessary so that you can create a flat surface for cooking. It (the cooking surface) is no different from the standard stove in the Kuznetsov oven; it has round holes (burners) and is closed with lids.

You can place the dishes without opening the lids, or vice versa, so that the flame touches the pot or pan. In the latter case, you need to understand that pyrolysis processes will be impossible. This method is used when there is no need to heat the house, but only to cook food. This can be done immediately after lighting a fire.

Possible configuration options:

  • one or two burners;
  • firebox door with or without glass;
  • thermal power 6 or 8 kW.

Maximum heated area 150 sq. m. The Breneran stove with hob is perfect for a summer residence, combining two functions at once.

Breneran stove for sauna

It is also called a heater. The operating principle is very different from all other models. There are no convection holes to warm the air in the room; the main task is to heat the stones. Special niches are made for this.

Before installing the hangar heating system, insulation work must be carried out.

Previously, installing asbestos-cement pipes as a chimney was commonplace, but today there are many better options.

Stones can be laid:

  • only from above;
  • from above and on the sides to the middle of the stove height;
  • from above and on the sides in full height of the stove.

There are stoves with linings that cover the sides. The firebox door can be with or without glass. Almost all models are designed for the fact that firewood will be thrown from inside the steam room, with the exception of the Breneran Premium stove. It is installed in such a way that the stones are in the steam room, and firewood can be thrown from the street or another room through the wall.

Breneran furnace with water circuit

They call her Aqua. The design of such a furnace is similar to a conventional gas generator, only the semicircular arcs at the top and bottom are interconnected. Thus, a collector is created through which liquid circulates. A Breneran with a water circuit is connected to the heating system and heats the coolant rather than the air directly. This allows one stove to heat several rooms at once. It can work both in a circuit with natural circulation and with forced circulation. There is no difference at all.

Technical characteristics and review of the Breneran stove

The oven is mainly used in large premises: workshops, garages, greenhouses, etc., and for drying fruits, lumber and mushrooms.

When you start the oven for the first time, a specific smell will appear. This occurs due to the polymerization of the heat-resistant paint covering the structure. The boiler itself is an all-welded body, divided into two chambers. The first is the fuel loading chamber, the second is the afterburning of gases. The pipes also contain afterburners that increase the performance of the heating device.

Furnaces are produced both with a sealed steel door and with observation glass mounted in the combustion chamber door. Glass is heat-resistant, but contact with combustion products is critical.

There are several models of stoves for heating different sizes of rooms. The furnace performance indicated in the documentation is designed for an insulated room without drafts.

The furnace operates on the following types of fuel:

  • logs;
  • cardboard and paper;
  • peat;
  • coal;

For ease of use, the oven is equipped with two types of regulators. One of them is located on the oven door - the power regulator. At the back, on the pipe, a gasifier is installed. The product warranty period is 30 months after purchase.
