Thermal insulation Energoflex Super (Energoflex Super)

Properties of Energoflex insulation materials

The properties of high-density polyethylene foam allow the product to be used in almost any conditions, except for exposure to direct sunlight.

Technical characteristics of insulation for Energoflex pipes:

  • high quality organic thermal insulation - indicators in the region of 0.038-0.039 W/(m s);
  • certified range of permissible temperatures – from -60°С to +90°С;
  • resistance to chemicals of almost any nature - high-density polyethylene does not react with alkalis, acids, saline solutions and oils, protecting pipes from corrosion;
  • good water-repellent properties - absorbs no more than 3.5% of the volume of moisture;
  • service life with proper installation and use – up to 25 years;
  • an impressive size range of pipe products and an unlimited scope of application for Energoflex rolls.

Among the disadvantages of insulation are:

  • instability to direct solar radiation;
  • low mechanical resistance - up to 0.3 MPa;
  • The upper temperature limit – +100°C – limits the scope of application of the product.

Energoflex pipe insulation - properties and price

With rising energy prices, various energy saving methods are being introduced everywhere. One of these methods is the insulation of water supply, heating pipes and other systems.

Previously, before the advent of the specialized material for thermal insulation Enegoflex, this was not an easy task. Energoflex still has no equal on the market in terms of quality among products for thermal insulation made of foamed polyethylene. Combining many useful properties, it is unique in its kind.

Why Energoflex?

Energoflex is a porous insulation made from foamed polyethylene, which has excellent thermal insulation properties and other advantages. It is valued for its unique flexibility, waterproofness and durability.

There are good reasons to consider Energoflex an ideal solution for pipes:

  1. Minimal heat loss due to foamed polyethylene is due to its porous structure. Closed cells are filled with air, which significantly reduces thermal conductivity and prevents the coolant from freezing,
  2. Water and vapor impermeability makes it both heat and waterproofing, condensate protection and subsequent corrosion protection,
  3. The sound-absorbing qualities of Energoflex reduce the degree of structural and impact noise,
  4. The flexibility and elasticity of polyethylene makes these tubes easy to use and easy to install even in problem areas,
  5. Durability of the material due to chemical resistance to aggressive substances and external influences,
  6. The tubular shape is designed specifically for pipes. Many modifications with various complementary properties (cut, polymer coating, etc.) allow you to choose the most suitable type of Energoflex for the job,

That is why Energoflex has found wide application in insulating heating, plumbing and other systems. It provides maximum thermal insulation, which together with water resistance gives an excellent result. Energoflex will protect hot pipes from heat loss, cold pipes from condensation and freezing, due to the fact that it does not allow steam to pass through.

Scope of application of Energoflex insulation

Energoflex pipe insulation is produced in two versions - rolled and tubular, so it can be used as a universal insulation.

The Energoflex product range satisfies the most diverse needs of thermal insulation installation:

  • Hot and cold water supply systems,
  • Heating systems,
  • Ventilation and air conditioning systems,
  • Sewerage,
  • Electronics, refrigeration equipment and much more.

It is important to know: the maximum temperature that Energoflex can withstand is 100 °C. This must be taken into account when working with the heating system; such insulation is used for internal water supply and heating networks,

Types of Energoflex insulation

A wide range of products has been developed for ease of use of this insulation in a wide variety of areas.

Energoflex pipe shells

Energoflex super – without polymer shell.

Shells are covers for pipes that are made of foamed polyethylene or rubber. Polyethylene products are divided into two groups:

  • Energoflex super;
  • Energoflex super protect.

The second product is protected by a polymer shell. The technical characteristics of Energoflex Super Protect allow the use of thermal insulation in harsh operating conditions, for example, when laying pipes in a floor screed or underground installation. Such shells are produced with wall thicknesses of 4, 6 and 9 mm in sections of 2 or 10 m. Energoflex insulation without a polymer shell is produced only in two-meter sections; the wall thickness can be 6, 9, 13, 20, 25 mm. They are suitable exclusively for interior work.

Shells made of foamed synthetic rubber Kaiflex EF-E are used for thermal insulation of heating circuits, water supply and sewer pipes, and ventilation systems. Energoflex rubber shells, technical characteristics:

  • nominal bore from 7 to 168 mm;
  • wall thickness 6, 9, 13 mm;
  • 2 meter sections.

Shells not only retain heat, they also have high sound insulation qualities. In addition, covers made of foamed polyethylene or rubber are used to prevent condensation from appearing on cold water pipes. The insulation works like a thermos: hot remains hot and cold stays cold.

In order for insulation of a cold attic floor with mineral wool to be effective, it is necessary to correctly calculate the thickness of the thermal insulation.

Read about internal wall insulation with mineral wool in this article.

Technical characteristics of building materials

Most often, the heat insulator is available in three variations:

  • tubular;
  • roll;
  • in the form of slabs.

The color palette of the first option is represented by red, gray and blue, which makes it easier to recognize the pipeline during installation. The material can be safely used in almost any temperature conditions, since it does not lose its performance qualities either in cold winter (even at -40°C) or in hot summer (up to +100°C).

Pipe Energoflex is a safe, environmentally friendly insulator, because it does not contain freon or chlorofluorocarbons. In addition, it is included in the group of burning materials G1 (for comparison, there are only four groups, G1 is the safest). As for density, its indicator per square meter is 25 kg, deviation from the norm is possible +/- 5 kg.

Rolled insulator has a wide range of thickness - from three to twenty millimeters. Its thermal conductivity is a definite plus - 0.036-0.038 W/m°C. In terms of flammability, it, like the previous option, is included in group G1, but the operating range of temperature conditions is somewhat smaller - the upper temperature is +80°C.

    Preparation for installation of ENERGOFLEX thermal insulation

    Thermal insulation is intended for use outdoors and indoors at ambient temperatures from -40°C to +70°C and relative humidity up to 100%. The manufacturer does not recommend using thermal insulation in direct sunlight. When working with insulation, use only high-quality materials, accessories, fixtures and tools.

    The surface of the thermal insulation must be continuous, rough, without depressions, dents or holes. If there is contamination on the thermal insulation, it must be removed with a cleaner before installation.

    The surface of the pipelines must be free of dirt, oil stains and rust. Clean contaminated surfaces with ENERGOFLEX cleaner or other cleaning agent. When installing thermal insulation on air ducts of ventilation and air conditioning systems, they must first be coated with an anti-corrosion coating. When installing thermal insulation in two or more layers, the installation must be done with the seam offset.

    Thermal insulation of pipelines and equipment should be carried out in a disconnected state. You can continue operating the system no earlier than 24 hours after installation.

    When thermally insulating pipes outdoors, it is necessary to choose insulation with a coating material in accordance with SNiP 2.04.14-88.

    During installation, it is prohibited to stretch the thermal insulation in the longitudinal or transverse direction. It is recommended to squeeze it slightly.

    Tools and accessories

    To install thermal insulation you will need special tools and devices.

    • ENERGOFLEX miter box – for setting the angles of rotation of pipes and for cutting corner wedges;
    • knife with a long blade (~300mm) – for cutting rolled material and large diameter pipes;
    • short knife (~70mm) – for small diameter pipes;
    • brush – for applying adhesive;
    • ring punches - for making holes in insulation;
    • construction ruler;
    • roulette;
    • smooth spatula - for applying glue;
    • pen or pencil.

    Bonding ENERGOFLEX insulation

    Before applying the ENERGOFLEX adhesive composition, it must be thoroughly mixed. It is recommended to use glue in 0.5 liter containers. The glue is applied in a thin layer to both surfaces to be glued. Connect the surfaces five minutes after applying the glue. If the glue on the surface has dried, it is reapplied. The use of glue is recommended at an ambient temperature of at least +17°C, optimally +20°C. If the glue has thickened, it can be diluted with ENERGOFLEX solvent.

    Installation of ENERGOFLEX thermal insulation

    When installing thermal insulation pipes, various work methods are used.

    Tension method. Recommended for use on uninstalled pipelines. ENERGOFLEX is put on the pipes, the ends of the thermal insulation are glued together.

    If pipes need to be welded, the thermal insulation must be shifted from the welding site by 250-300mm and welding must be carried out. Glue the ends of the thermal insulation.

    Longitudinal cutting method. Thermal insulation is installed on already installed piping systems. The thermal insulation tube must be cut with a knife with a short blade along the axis and mounted on the pipeline. Glue the cut and further strengthen it with a clamp, glue the ends of the tubes together.

    Installation of rolls. Thermal insulation of pipes with a diameter of over 160 mm is carried out with rolled material. This installation method is also used for installing several layers of thermal insulation. To do this, measure the required circumference, cut off the required length and width from the roll, and install it.

    Wedge cutting method. This method must be used on pipelines with a diameter of up to 90 mm. Using a miter box, wedges are cut from the inside of the insulation tube at an angle of 22° or 45°, depending on the angle of rotation. The distance between adjacent wedges is 5-10 mm. All cuts are glued and secured with a clamp.

    Angle cutting. The method is used to obtain right angles of rotation. Subsequent operations are similar to the previous methods.

    Diameter marking.

    For bends of pipes with a diameter of 90 mm and above, it is recommended to use roll insulation.

    To do this, two half-sectors ABCD are cut out, which are glued along line L, the thermal insulation is installed on the pipe and the inner corner is glued. The remains are cut perpendicular to the pipe.

    From the wide variety of pipeline insulating materials, you can easily choose the one that you need in this particular case. The use of thermal insulation will save money, maintain the required temperature of the coolant or prevent liquids in the pipeline from freezing, and prevent the appearance of condensation.

    Tube-shaped

    To perform noise and heat insulation of engineering systems located inside the building, it is advisable to use Energoflex tubes of the Super 2 m model.

    They are made of polyethylene foam and provide easy installation due to their flexibility, convenient configuration and a special technological cut that simplifies installation work.

    Energoflex in tubes.

    Another type of product that is produced in the form of tubes is Energoflex Super model. The length of the products is 1 m. Their scope of use is retail trade enterprises.

    The diameter of the tubes can be 15-42 mm, the walls have a thickness of 9 mm. The material is equipped with a technological cut, is flexible and elastic. Special packaging makes it convenient to sell in hardware stores.

    The Energoflex Super Protect model has special characteristics. Thanks to them, the material can be used for thermal insulation of pipes of heating and water supply systems hidden in floors and walls.

    Thermal insulation tubes perfectly withstand the effects of aggressive building materials and are characterized by mechanical resistance and strength. These properties are ensured by a special polymer coating.

    The developers of the Energoflex material have implemented progressive know-how. Its essence is the simultaneous extrusion of a polyethylene foam tube and polyethylene film. The result is a strong welding of the thermal insulation with the coating.

    To provide thermal protection for copper tubes used in air conditioning systems, it is rational to use Energoflex Black Star tubes.

    They have high resistance to steam and moisture, which is of paramount importance when equipping thermal protection for cold surfaces. The use of tubes is a reliable prevention against condensation. These products provide technologically advanced installation, are safe and durable.

    The presence of a smooth inner surface makes it possible not to use talc when putting tubes on copper elements of air conditioners that require thermal protection.

    Energoflex Black Star Split tubes have perfect characteristics. They were equipped with a UV-resistant polymer coating. Thanks to this, the heat insulator is relevant when insulating copper parts of the air conditioner located outdoors.

    Installation of tubes does not provide for the construction of additional protection using casings or self-adhesive tapes.

    Energofleks heat insulator: release form and installation

    Energoflex is available in several form factors:

    • tubes that fit directly onto pipes are available in different diameters from 18 to 160 mm, up to 2 m long;
    • in the form of rolls - the material is wound onto pipes, wrapped around and fastened with special glue.

    To install Energoflex, in addition to the heat-insulating material itself, you also need to have glue, with which the individual elements of the heat-insulating material are held together, and Energoflex tape. The tape is produced in rolls, its function is to cover the joint of pipes of glued insulation pipes (if pipe insulation is used).

    Thermal insulation of the pipeline can be carried out both on installed pipes and on individual elements. If the pipeline has not yet been installed, then installing the insulation is very simple - the Energoflex tube is simply put on the pipe, the ends of the tubes are glued together, and the joints on top are sealed with film. In this case, care should be taken to ensure that the material does not stretch - this will affect the performance characteristics of the heat insulator.

    Installation features of Energoflex

    When installing, pay attention to the following details:

    • the ends of the tubes and cut lines must be degreased and cleaned, free from dust and dirt;
    • glue must be applied to both surfaces to be glued, and not to one;
    • when installing insulation, the temperature regime must be observed - the ambient temperature should not exceed 5°C;
    • before connecting the tubes, you need to wait at least 5 minutes (apply glue and wait time, only then glue);
    • if pipeline elements are fastened by welding, Energoflex can be put on only after the welds have completely cooled, and do not keep the insulation too close to the welding site.

    In general, Energoflex was and remains an easy-to-use and install material, the improvement of which does not stand still. Already, some manufacturers are producing material for thermal insulation of external pipelines using reinforced foil.

    Installation of "Energoflex"

    To make a tee, the Energoflex tube is divided in two. A wedge-shaped hole is cut out in one half at an angle of 90°, its diameter equal to the circumference of the pipe. The edge of the other part should be cut at a 45° angle on both sides. The joints are secured with glue. Then the tee needs to be cut, put on the pipeline, glued at the seams and secured with adhesive tape.

    The shaped parts are formed as follows: two wedge-shaped cuts are made on the Energoflex tube at an angle of 45°. Glue is applied to their edges. Then the part should be bent so that it forms the desired angle.

    If it is necessary to insulate an already installed pipeline, then the Energoflex tube is carefully cut at the site of the technological cut. Glue is applied along the edges of the resulting cut with a brush. The insulation is put on the pipe, its edges are connected.

    If the system has not yet been installed, then first Energoflex tubes are very carefully pulled onto the pipe. Joints that should not coincide with welding seams are coated with glue. It dries in about 5 minutes. Additionally, the joints are secured with adhesive tape.

    Energyflex thermal insulation for pipes

    In modern construction, Energoflex is often used for pipes. The technical characteristics of this heat insulator are excellent, which makes it so popular.

    Installation of K Flex insulation

    Insulation of pipes with this material is carried out taking into account clear requirements:

    • Work should be carried out at an ambient temperature of at least +5°C
    • apply insulation adhesive to a degreased surface;
    • clean the insulated communications from dirt, dust and rust.

    Surface cleaning should be carried out with materials intended for this purpose. If you use some improvised means, the insulation may not stick to the entire required surface.

    Direct installation of insulation is carried out in the following sequence:

    A thin layer of glue is applied to the cleaned, pre-degreased dry surface of the pipe and to the insulation itself. Adhesive consumption – 0.15 liters per 1 sq.

    m area; when the glue hardens during work, it is diluted with a special k-flex cleaner; if you choose insulation with a self-adhesive surface, the above steps can be omitted; the glue should dry for 3-5 minutes, after which the insulation is directly installed on the surface of the pipe; if the product is in the form of a sheet, the installation is carried out in such a way that its middle falls on the top of the pipe; the insulation, in the form of a tube, is carefully cut lengthwise and installed on the pipe.

    Installation of K-Flex materials is quite simple, and even a beginner in thermal insulation work can install it themselves. At the same time, it provides reliable protection against exposure to cold air. The insulation has sufficient flexibility, which allows it to insulate pipelines of any configuration.

    Bonding Energoflex thermal insulation

    Installation of parts of thermal insulation with glue is carried out after degreasing the pipe.
    Before applying the adhesive mass, it must be thoroughly mixed. The best option is to use the substance in a tank with a capacity of about 0.5 liters. The glue is applied in a thin, even layer to both surfaces to be bonded. These areas are connected 5-7 minutes after applying the adhesive mass. If the glue dries during this time, it is reapplied.

    Work can be carried out at an ambient temperature not lower than +17 degrees Celsius, the most optimal is +20 degrees. If the adhesive mass has thickened, you can dilute it with a solvent from the manufacturer Energoflex.

    Thermal insulation for Energoflex pipes has all the necessary quality certificates and meets international standards. To purchase the required amount of materials, you need to first measure the length of the highway, taking into account parts, bends and joints.

    Features of K-Flex thermal insulation and scope of application

    K-Flex is used for insulation of communications in industrial and social projects. Materials used for insulation:

    • sewer and water supply networks;
    • heating networks (external and internal);
    • air conditioning systems and ventilation devices;
    • main oil and gas pipelines;
    • low-temperature tubes of refrigeration units.

    K-Flex is used in social facilities with specific fire safety requirements. These include schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and industrial production that use hazardous substances in their work.

    Insulation of pipes using K-Flex

    Installation of the material is carried out without the use of additional fasteners and waterproofing devices. This reduces the cost of installation and makes it quite simple.

    K Flex materials are used due to their technical features:

    • low thermal conductivity. This property is facilitated by the structure of the product (the presence of cells) and their small size. The material has optimal proportions of mass and volume;
    • long period of operation;
    • steam and water resistance. The material resembles polyethylene film, which is sometimes used for additional vapor barrier of utility lines, but is slightly thicker. This property interferes with oxidative processes on the surface of the pipes;
    • maintaining its technical parameters for a long time;
    • the presence of fire retardants in the composition, which prevents the rapid spread of fire;
    • the product is environmentally friendly, has no unpleasant odor and does not emit harmful substances during operation;
    • has a fairly high cost, but in terms of price-quality ratio it is an excellent choice of insulation;
    • the material is quite elastic, which allows it to be used in a wide temperature range (from +70°C to -110°C) and provides good adhesion to the surface;
    • stops the development of mold and harmful microorganisms on the surface of pipes and is resistant to atmospheric conditions.

    The listed technical characteristics of the thermal insulation material greatly simplify the process of installing the material on hard-to-reach surfaces and make the insulation of communications effective.

    The insulator can be used not only for pipes, but also for insulating walls, ceilings, floors or even the attic. It is equally effective for use in a private home, industrial facilities, or in buildings built for household needs.

    Energoflex products are used to make furniture and even as packaging material.

    What types of Energoflex are there?

    This insulating material is used in various fields, which is why it is produced in several types. In order to choose the right material and not make a mistake, you need to know exactly for what purpose it will be used.

    • tubes of different diameters and technical characteristics. Prevents rust from appearing on the pipeline and retains heat well; - rolled material. It is made with an outer foil coating, but can also be made without such a coating. Often used directly for floor insulation;
    • tape that is used without glue. Produced in roll form. Used for finishing hoods;
    • sheet material. Used for insulating fittings and pipelines that have a fairly large diameter;
    • insulation consisting of plates. Sometimes such insulation, just like rolled insulation, can be covered with foil. Such insulation is often laid on the floor or used to insulate water supply systems.

    How much will it cost?

    In general, the cost of such material as Energoflex is quite lower compared to other similar insulation materials. The price will be influenced by a number of factors. For example, such as: the very structure of the produced material; its technical indicators; form of production. The price will, of course, be greatly influenced by the size of the material desired. Since Energoflex is most often sold in sets, the price will directly depend on its main components.

    Direct preparation for installation

    Since pipe insulation with the help of Energoflex is more common than anything else, consider installing this material on pipes. Before proceeding directly to the installation, you need to analyze several rules necessary for work, which will be very useful in your work: 1. The temperature during installation in the room where the work is being carried out should be no more than 0; 2. The surface that will be insulated in the future must be pre-prepared, that is, cleaned and wiped of grease; 3. When installing material on pipes, before starting work, you need to turn off the system and turn it on only after 24 hours after completion of work; 4. If more than one layer of material is used, you need to cover the seams well and carefully monitor this; 5. From the very beginning of work, it is necessary to insulate the reinforcement. List of tools required for work:

    • ruler for measuring, of course it is better to use a ruler of good length;
    • punch;
    • stationery knife;
    • black felt-tip pen;
    • brush with good bristles.

    Material cost

    The cost of Energoflex insulation is quite affordable in comparison with other similar materials. It depends on several factors. This is the structure of the material, its modification, release form. The dimensions of the heat insulator also affect the price. Since the material is in most cases sold in sets, the cost will also depend on the number of components in the set.

    For example, insulation for Energoflex pipes is measured in linear meters. The components of its price will be the diameter and thickness of the product.

    Thickness, mm Diameter, mm price, rub.
    6 15-35 10-20
    9 15-160 15-250
    12 15-160 18-270

    Sheet insulation can be purchased at a cost of 111-350 rubles. per m2. A linear meter of self-adhesive tape 48 mm wide will cost from 105 to 300 rubles.

    Insulation dimensions

    The material can be used both indoors and outdoors. The internal diameter size ranges from 6 to 160 mm. The second important parameter is wall thickness. The minimum value is 6 mm, and the maximum is 20 mm. The length of the tubes starts from 1.2 meters and ends at 11 meters.

    What are the advantages of such isolation?

    This insulation has a number of characteristics that place it among the best materials:

    • lightness and plasticity;
    • resistance to deformation and mechanical damage;
    • moderate flammability (flammability group G2);
    • temperature conditions of use - from - 40 to = 95 degrees;
    • reduction of structural noise;
    • resistance to aggressive environments such as lime, concrete, cement, stone, gypsum;
    • increased strength;
    • zero hygroscopicity (does not absorb moisture);
    • rot resistance;
    • durability;
    • ease of installation: the presence of longitudinal cuts (often with a self-adhesive layer) makes installation quick and convenient.

    Among other things, energyflex is an environmentally friendly material. When working with it, the use of personal protective equipment is not required. All this provides ample opportunities for using this insulation during installation work.

    However, it has one negative characteristic: it is sensitive to sunlight. Like any polyethylene, Energoflex is afraid of ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, for use in outdoor conditions, the manufacturer produces a type of thermal insulation with a special layer of polymer protection.

    Black Star Dact and Black Star Dact Al

    The insulator is designed for heat and sound insulation of ventilation ducts, air ducts, as well as pipes with large diameters. Insulation dimensions: width – 120 cm, length – 5, 7, 10, 20, 30 m. A self-adhesive layer with an adhesion coefficient to a metal surface of 600 g/cm simplifies installation on pipes of various shapes.

    The Dakt Al insulator has an aluminum layer that has a shielding effect. It is distinguished by increased elasticity, high vapor barrier properties, and resistance to mechanical damage. Excellent noise and vibration absorption.

    Installation nuances

    Installation work on the Energoflex insulator should be carried out exclusively on non-functioning equipment and non-functioning pipelines. After the thermal insulation has been installed, at least 24 hours must pass before the equipment can be resumed.

    Work with self-adhesive materials should be carried out at a temperature not lower than +5°C. At a lower temperature, they will not be able to seal at the proper level.

    Advantages

    The material is highly functional. In addition, the heat insulator has the following operational and consumer advantages:

    • increased strength;
    • resistance to moisture;
    • high working potential;
    • environmental safety for the environment and humans;
    • affordable and balanced price.

    When working with materials from the Energoflex group, workers do not require additional personal protective equipment, because the heat insulator does not contain toxic components and cannot cause harm to health through direct contact.

    The material is highly resistant to aggressive environments. Another important property of Energoflex is the ability to reduce heat loss and suppress structural noise.

    Using the material, a thermal insulation layer is created that eliminates the formation of condensation and prevents the destruction of surfaces as a result of corrosion.

    For this reason, equipping a heat shield with Energoflex is a reliable way to protect a structure from freezing at low air temperatures for a long time.

    If a heat insulator is used to insulate the interior space of a room, then there is no need to use a vapor barrier and arrange cover layers. This reduces the cost of thermal insulation.
