Gas boilers are designed to create comfortable living conditions. Double-circuit units provide the living space with heat and hot water at the tap. But it happens that a working boiler does not heat the water well and does not provide the necessary comfort.

The efficiency of the entire heating system depends on how the boiler operates. If there is a problem in the gas boiler itself, this can negatively affect the efficiency of the entire system and cause excessive consumption of energy resources. Operating principle

The manufacturer uses metal to make the Baxi combustion chamber. On the outside it is covered with a layer of heat insulation. Above it there is a heat exchanger, which is made of copper. When there is a change in temperature in the room, the thermostat turns on. Please note that the launch is carried out automatically. From it the signal to turn on is transmitted to the pump. The latter creates a vacuum in the return pipeline. After this, heated water begins to flow into the heating system line under a pressure not exceeding 0.45 bar.

The boiler starts at low power. It gradually increases until the temperature of the coolant increases to a given value. After this, the mode changes - from heating to modulation mode . When the coolant temperature decreases, a signal is received from the temperature sensor, which leads to the opening of the inlet valve. After this, ignition occurs, and then the water is heated again.

If already at the beginning of the boiler operation its power is quite high, then the burner is switched off automatically. After three minutes, you can restart the system.

If there is no need for heating the room, then the boiler is turned on in DHW mode. In this case, cold water enters the secondary circuit through a three-way valve, through which the heating line is closed. supplied to the burner through a gas valve , which leads to a gradual increase in boiler power. After heating the water, the temperature control mode is activated.

Types and causes of malfunctions

If the Baksi boiler has stopped working normally, then you can carry out repairs on your own, without turning to specialists for help. But troubleshooting can only be done if the damage is minor and easily fixable. If you have never encountered boiler repair, then in this case you should not take risks - contact a specialist straight away.

To put it simply, the draft sensor is a gray box connected by tubes to a fan. The operating principle is extremely simple: the contacts are normally open and close when a vacuum occurs in the outlet pipe. That is, if the vacuum is insufficient or absent, the boiler simply does not start or stops if the boiler was working.

You can eliminate the malfunction of the pneumatic relay as follows: when the boiler starts, the fan starts working, then the signal for the control unit to ignite should be the closing of the contacts of the pressure switch relay, therefore, you can close them manually to simulate operation. If ignition occurs, the cause must be sought either in the sensor itself or in the connection with the outlet pipe.

You can check the operation of the relay inside the sensor by creating a vacuum through the supply tube (suck air from it) according to the characteristic sound of operation - a click. The pneumatic relay itself may have two outputs, one of them is simply open, and a tube from the fan is connected to the second. I read once on a forum that one of the users had a tube connected to the wrong outlet, but how the boiler worked before is a mystery.

Frequent malfunctions and measures to eliminate them

The burner flame does not reach its maximum power when the boiler is operating.

This gas boiler malfunction may occur due to incorrect pressure settings in the heating system. Also, such a breakdown can occur if the gas valve modulator is faulty. Another reason for its occurrence is the breakdown of the diode bridge.

Remedy: it is necessary to configure the system parameters using the boiler operating instructions.

The boiler starts but immediately stops working

This gas boiler malfunction may occur due to low pressure in the gas pipeline.

Remedy: it is necessary to adjust the gas pressure down to 5 mbar.

Weak heating of the coolant in the heating system

Remedy: Check the pressure at the gas valve. There is a high probability that there was a failure in the min and max values.

Modulation mode does not work

Weak heating in the hot water supply system

The cause of this malfunction may be incomplete opening of the three-way valve. In some cases, its appearance is associated with a breakdown of such a valve. Then the shut-off valves of the heating system will need to be closed. When this is done, the boiler should be turned on to hot water supply mode. Confirmation of a valve malfunction will be heating in the heating system.

How to check the fan operation in a Baxi turbocharged boiler

In order to check the quality of the fan operation, it is necessary to remove the front cover. You should first check whether the device rotates. If the fan does not rotate, then you need to turn off the gas boiler and try to turn the blades yourself. This way, you can eliminate the possibility of jamming and check how freely they rotate. Rotation must be carried out without interference or extraneous sounds.

Usually the following problems occur: dirt builds up on the internal blades, the lubricant in the fan axle bearings runs out, or the axle bushing wears out.

In Baxi ecofour gas boilers, you can remove the fan along with the top cover of the combustion chamber. If necessary, clean the turbine blades from dirt. The bearing can be lubricated with a special high-temperature grease. If the fan operates for a long time with dirt on the blades, the axle bushing may break. In this case, it needs to be replaced.

If the gas boiler is working, but the fan does not start, then you need to check the reliability of the connection of the device to the board and the presence of voltage at the terminals. One of the common causes is a malfunction of the relay on the board, which is responsible for turning on the turbine. In such a situation, an internal board error is detected by the diagnostic system. If no faults were found, then you can move on to the next step.

Baxi gas boilers have a special black outlet, which is located at the fan outlet, for service specialists. The vacuum created can be measured with a special device. This value should be 45 mbar.

Errors and their codes

Error codes that may occur during the operation of Baksi gas boilers can be divided into two groups:

  • complete blocking of equipment operation;
  • switching the device to standby mode.

If the installation is completely blocked, you will need to restart the boiler manually. The blocking is activated if serious problems occur in the boiler operation, which can pose a serious danger to human health. Failures that cause the boiler to block include overheating of the equipment, and in addition, lack of draft. Blocking also occurs if there is no gas supply. The error resolves itself in rare cases. If this happens, the device starts in automatic mode.

Error E01

This error is the most common. When the flame control sensor is triggered, this code is displayed. Several reasons can lead to its appearance:

  • no gas supply;
  • there is no correspondence between phase and zero; this reason is relevant for phase-dependent models;
  • no contact with flame sensor;
  • the sensor is dirty or faulty;
  • there are malfunctions in the ignition system;
  • the gas valve is faulty or the electronic board is faulty;
  • air access is insufficient for normal combustion;
  • The gas pressure in the system is insufficient.

If this code appears on the display, then the first thing to do is check whether the sensor is connected correctly. It is also worth checking the gas supply. If everything is normal, then in this case you can press R. It should be held for 3 seconds.

If accidentally triggered, the equipment will continue to operate normally. If the error continues to appear, then in this case you should contact a specialist . Note that the occurrence of this error is associated with problems in the electronics. If you try to solve the problem on your own, then everything can end disastrously for gas equipment.

Error e01

Malfunction e01 of Baksi boilers indicates a malfunction in the ignition system. This error is generated by the Baxi sensor, which monitors the flame. The error code can be reset manually, and to do this you need to hold down the “R” button. After 3-5 seconds have passed after pressing and holding this button, the boiler should start. If the flame does not appear and error E01 is displayed again on the screen, then only one thing will help in this situation - calling a boiler repairman. An error with this code can be caused by several reasons. This could be a failure of the ignition system, as well as incorrect operation of the electronic control unit. There have also been cases where this malfunction occurred due to an incorrectly adjusted gas valve. This error can also be caused by:

  • weak draft in the chimney;
  • low gas pressure.

Let's take a closer look at the reasons why error e01 occurs on Baxi boilers, and how to eliminate it. This error is sometimes very difficult to fix, since it can be caused by many factors. This malfunction is associated with difficulty igniting. On some models of boilers from this manufacturer, the electrode also contains a flame sensor, and this combination sometimes does not work correctly.

When the ionization current, which passes from the electrode through the burner to the ground loop without any obstacles, then the ignition works without any deviations. The control board records the parameters of the ionization current. If its strength is in the range from 5 to 15 microamps, then this can be considered the normal operating mode of the ignition system. When for some reason the ionization current strength deviates from the norm, the electronic control unit of the boiler records these deviations, and the Baxi gas boiler is blocked with error e01.

This error also appears if the contact of the electrode with the control board is broken. Also, if error e01 occurs, you should immediately check the gas pressure in the line. For natural gas, the pressure should not be lower than 2 mbar, and for liquefied gas - 5-6 mbar. The pressure can also be adjusted with a special nut located on the gas valve. It is also necessary to thoroughly check the operation of this valve - measure the resistance of the coils with a multimeter. The first coil should have a resistance of 1.3 kOhm, and the second - 2.85 kOhm.

The conductor that connects the gas valve to the electronic board may contain a diode bridge, which can also fail. This is a feature of some Baxi boiler models and the diode bridge should also be checked with a multimeter. You also need to check the resistance of the electrode itself. It should not exceed 1-2 Ohms. Also, the edge of the electrode must be at the required distance from the burner. This distance should be 3 mm.

Error e01 may also appear if ignition occurs, but the flame immediately goes out. This may be caused by reversed polarity on the 220 volt plug. By turning the fork 180 degrees, you can get rid of problems with ignition. These problems can also be caused by a ground fault. The voltage between phase and neutral phase and ground must be the same. The voltage between zero and ground should be no more than 0.1 Volt. If this parameter is violated, this may cause fault e01.

You also need to make sure that the gas line is isolated from the boiler. This line may carry a small electrical potential, which can cause a malfunction of the heating device. For insulation, a special dielectric spacer is used, which is placed between the gas pipe and the boiler.

Step 1

To eliminate error E25 of the Baxi boiler, press the RESET (R) button and hold it for at least 2 seconds, as stated in the factory instructions.

If the malfunction is caused by the accumulation of air bubbles in the coolant, they will be removed by turning the pump at idle speed (without igniting the burner). This action quickly solves the problem with error E25. During boiler operation, the liquid is heated to a high temperature, which promotes intense gas formation. This often occurs when the heating unit operates at high settings. If this does not solve the problem, you need to look for the cause in the heating circuit and the Baksi boiler.

Possible causes of error e03

Chimney

  • Illiterate installation . Errors made during the design - insufficient cross-section of pipes, increased length of the horizontal section of the tract, incorrectly selected slope angle - are identified at the very first start-up of the Baksi gas boiler or after a short period of time. This is the result of independently installing a chimney without taking into account the manufacturer’s recommendations. If other possible reasons for the appearance of the E03 code have not been identified, you need to contact a professional. If such an error occurs periodically, the likely cause is a change in wind direction. This must be taken into account during installation.

  • Clogging, ice formation in the chimney cavity - all this leads to a decrease in Duty and a sharp decrease in draft. To check the condition and maintain the channel, the services of a professional are not needed.

  • Filter icing . A metal mesh is installed on the chimney head to prevent debris, leaves, and small objects from entering the channel. During cold weather, it becomes covered with frost, and the cells become clogged: the path is blocked, the draft decreases, and error e03 appears on the display of the Baxi boiler.

Venturi device and sensor

The measuring element is connected by a polymer tube to the pneumatic relay membrane. During operation of the gas Baxi, the device may melt or become clogged: error e03 appears immediately. If the Baxi boiler model does not have a condensate collector, the tube cavity is gradually filled with drops of liquid: it can be easily removed, purged and replaced.

Recommendation

  • It is easy to check the serviceability of the Baksi boiler pneumatic relay. When there is a vacuum in the tube (created artificially), a characteristic click should be clearly heard. This means that the membrane has become deformed and the microswitch has tripped.
  • Sometimes, when replacing a draft sensor (pneumatic relay) in a Baxi gas boiler, error E03 appears again after a short time, although there are no other causes of the problem. Professionals advise supporting the sensor body, fixing its position and eliminating possible vibrations (with a metal rod, tube or something similar that is resistant to thermal effects). This eliminates this problem with the Baxi boiler.
  • The pneumatic relay body is monolithic - it cannot be disassembled. Sometimes the sensor fails due to sediment (smallest fractions) entering from the connecting tube. It’s easy to revive: shake, blow. Task: to free the membrane from adhering particles. This simple technology allows you to do without replacing the device, and the Baxi boiler will not display error e03 for a long time.

Fan (supercharged models)

To gain access to it, the front panel of the Baxi is removed. It is easy to verify whether it is working properly or not by putting the boiler into operation. If the impeller blades do not rotate, the cause of error E03 is in the fan.

Check what

  • Availability of power supply to the engine. Similarly with the traction sensor: reliability of connections, integrity of wires, plus measure the voltage rating (220V).
  • Rotation of the impeller (with the Baxi boiler turned off). If it does not spin when you lightly touch the blades, error E03 is due to problems in the mechanical part of the fan.

Probable Causes

  • Dirt on the impeller, engine axis: shaft rotation becomes difficult, draft decreases, error e03 appears on the Baxi boiler.

Recommendation . Baksi models have a special outlet at the turbine outlet (black). It is intended for the service technician to measure the vacuum created by the fan: the norm is 45 mbar.

Lack of lubrication

Recommendation . A special composition is used - high temperature. Any lubricant on hand is not suitable for fan maintenance.

  • Destruction of the fan support bearing.
  • Deformation (curvature, wear) of the axle bushing during long-term operation of the Baxi boiler in a dusty room, at high conditions, without proper maintenance. Metal production is a consequence of bushing contamination. Hence the problem with the fan and error E03.

Recommendation . When repairing a Baxi boiler yourself, it is easier to replace the fan than to look for a spare part for it. It costs from 7900 to 9200 rubles and is sold in specialized heating equipment stores.

Check voltage. Failures in network parameters are typical for the private sector, in areas of intensive development. Phase imbalances, a decrease in value less than recommended by the manufacturer (

230 V) is not uncommon, hence the error e25. There may be disturbances in the operation of the autonomous power source: imported household appliances are sensitive to the parameters of the electrical network, which users forget about.

Simultaneous operation of a powerful consumer of electricity or several appliances (pump, boiler, dishwasher or washing machine, electric heater) with the Baxi boiler leads to a decrease (dip) in voltage. Checking the condition of the boiler filter. In the heating system with Baksi, in addition to the main device, there is a separate cleaning element installed at the entrance to the unit. Its task is to prevent contamination of the heat exchanger with sediment (tiny fractions of rust, salt deposits, dirt, grains of sand) from the heating circuit. During operation, the cells become clogged, which leads to error e25: the Baksi boiler filter needs periodic washing.

Baxi boiler error e25 what does it mean?

If we are talking about real overheating, then most likely the appearance of an error will be accompanied by the characteristic crackling sound of a boiling heat exchanger. Overheating itself can occur when the coolant in the heat exchanger flows too slowly and manages to heat up to a critical temperature. The reasons for this may be a malfunction or blockage of the pump, clogged filters, high hydraulic resistance in the heating circuit, or air in the system.

Circulation pump malfunction


Wall-mounted boilers predominantly use pumps with a wet rotor. The rotor rotates in water, water washes and lubricates the support bearings, but at the same time it is an aggressive environment for them. Over time, plaque (scale) forms on the rotor parts and dirt accumulates. At some point, the pump rotor may seize or the bearings may fail. These factors will result in poor pump performance, poor circulation and overheating. It is fair to note that in addition to the mechanical part of the pump, there is also an electrical part, which is responsible for the initial start-up and operation of the pump. The design, principle of operation and fault diagnosis of circulation pumps can be studied in a separate article. For initial diagnostics of the pump operation, it is enough to check that voltage is supplied to it and the rotor is rotating, assess the volume of the pump, the absence of extraneous noise and temperature. This can be done either by unscrewing the plug (the rotation along the notch will be visually visible) or with a special indicator (available from service specialists).

Primary heat exchanger clogged


This is probably one of the most common causes of overheating problems.
This is especially true for boiler models with a bithermal heat exchanger. The design of such heat exchangers is a pipe in a pipe, that is, fresh tap water constantly passes through the primary heat exchanger, which, when heated, leaves various kinds of salt and other deposits on the walls. Over time, these deposits reduce the diameter of the pipe flow area, hydraulic resistance increases, and local overheating occurs, leading to an accident. Among other things, the hydraulic resistance of the heating system itself may be the cause. As an example, one of the users contacted us with a problem: baxi boiler error e25. During the discussion, it turned out that he had added a radiator to the heating system the day before. Apparently, after this, the performance of the standard circulation pump was no longer sufficient and as a result, the Baxi boiler generated error E25.

Filters and air

In most cases, any heating system is provided with coarse or fine filters, which over time also tend to become dirty and reduce the flow of coolant through the system. The boiler itself also has its own standard filters on the hydraulic group. As a rule, they are easily accessible for maintenance, therefore, first of all, it is necessary to inspect them and, if necessary, clean them. Air that can accumulate in radiators over time can cause a lack of normal circulation. Boiler circulation pumps usually have an automatic air vent - you need to check that its position is open. Air is also removed from the radiators using Mayevsky valves. Air jams are a question more related to the selected heating system design. Board malfunction May be expressed in the absence of a control signal to start the pump (the relay that supplies power does not turn on). This case can be easily verified by checking the voltage at the pump terminals or visually by the characteristic noise during operation. If a universal board is installed on the boiler, the boiler type may be set incorrectly in the settings.

Air in the heating circuit prevents fluid circulation. Restarting the unit can resolve small bubbles, but if we are talking about a “plug” that tightly blocks the line, the R button on the control panel of the Baksi boiler will not help eliminate the E25 error.

It is easy to find the problem area by walking around the object, checking by touch the degree of heating of the pipes and heating radiators. This will be indicated by a low temperature. You should not rely on automatic valves (if radiators are equipped with them) - they often fail.

To be 100% sure, you need to bleed air from the line, where provided, manually. In particular, check the pump air vent - it must be in working position. To do this, the adjusting head is twisted and then unscrewed 1–1.5 turns, or the flag is raised (depending on the model of the pumping device).

At the same time, the floors are inspected. Leakage is the cause of error E25. The burner of the Baksi boiler operates in accordance with the set mode, but if the volume of liquid in the circuit gradually decreases, it heats up faster than 1 degree/sec, which is recorded by the NTC.

To eliminate error E25, you must first of all understand the reasons for its occurrence. The main, most common ones were described above. The channel cross-section and circulation speed decrease, NTC sensors record an accelerated increase in the temperature difference, and the automation issues the 25th fault code. The heat exchanger requires regular maintenance. If the liquid entering the heating system from the water supply is of increased hardness, then it is advisable to do this more often than the manufacturer recommends in the instructions for the Baxi boiler.
